888Poker leaves the Australian gambling market

Representatives of 888Poker have officially announced their intentions to leave the Australian gambling market due to the new gambling legislation in the country. The company is going to fold operations from the 16th of January 2017. Players are advised to get back their applications for tournaments which will be held after folding operations of the company. Also, all users can feel free to withdraw their deposits from the website to their accounts.

The reason for this decision was the amendment to the gambling law enacted in 2016 which requires the possession of the Australian license for operations on the gambling market. In the case of violation of the law, the fine sanctions will be applied. It will be up to AUD 1.35 million (USD 1 million) for a player, and up to AUD 6.75 million (USD 5.05 million) for a gambling operator.

888Poker is the second largest video poker network in the world and the second most popular video poker brand.
